a. Note:   nding the obituary of Susan's brother, Francis Ludwig, in the May 22, 1908 Allentown Morning Call, pg. 6. Three surviving sisters are listed, two of whose marriage histories and spouses I was already acquainted with. The unknown name was Mrs. Willoughby Focht of Allentown. As the spouses for Susan and Esther Ludwig were both unknown Mrs. Willoughby Focht would have been either Susan or Esther.
  On checking the 1900 Lehigh census a Willoughby Focht was found living in Allentown with a wife Susan born in 1838, the same birth year for Susan listed on the 1850 census.
