The marriage date is approximate based on the date of the oldest child, who is eleven on the 1930 census. This document is also the source for the birth year and location of Essel.
While no marriage record has been found for Howard and Essel, the unique name Essel gives some clues. There is one female Essel in Scioto County, born in 1890 on both the 1900 and 1910 census. Her name is Essel S Selby. Given the unusual first name and location, this is probably the Essel S who appears as the wife of Howard on the 1920, 1930 and 1940 Scioto County census records.
