The 'bef. 1838' marriage for Levi and Elizabeth is based on the age of the oldest child on the 1850 census cited above. The 16 Oct 1838 date which I have found on many trees has never been documented with primary sources.

Levi, son of Rev. Burwell Spurlock, was born in Cabell County, Virginia in ca 1819, died in Fayette County, Ohio 23 May 1862. Before 1828 [1828 is incorrect. The researcher should have written before 1838. see below], he married Eliza A. Williams d/o Jesse and Nancy (Reyfield) Williams.. Eliza was born ca 1833 In ca 1838. [This again is careless scholarship. How could Eliza be born ca 1830 and 1838 if her first child was born around that time? The data below giving her a birth of around 1820 is not only more logical, but matches her birth years on the two census records cited above].
