Note: It is believed that Elizabeth Freeman died young and unmarried. The source for the 'bef 1860' death of Elizabeth is the 1860 Lawrence County census. Her appearance on the 1850 Lawrence County census and non appearance on the 1860 when she would have been at the tender age of twelve implies an early death. This is not a definitive conclusion, but most probable. One alternative conclusion is that she was married by the age of twelve, which in this region and period, while certainly not common and most likely frowned upon, was not out of the question. Source Citation: Year: 1860; Census Place: Fayette, Lawrence, Ohio; Roll: M653_997; Page: 20; Image: 43; Family History Library Film: 803997. There is a record of an Elizabeth J Freeman married to a Henderson Bone in Lawrence County in 1872. She is referred to as Jennie in the 1880 census. I believe this is a different woman than the daughter of David P and Nancy Freeman. Elizabeth is on neither the 1860 (as already mentioned) or 1870 census with her parents. If she were married in 1872 in Lawrence County it is likely that she would still be at home. I can find no other Elizabeth Freeman's in Lawrence County living alone, or with another family, on the 1860 or 1870 census. It is for these reasons that I suggest she may have died prior to 1860.
