It is on strong circumstantial evidence that I connect the Ellen Schmetzer of this marriage document with Elemina Schmetzer of the 1860 census and Elmina Schmetzer of the 1850 census. Many of the already documented marriages of her sibilings in Allentown had a similar permutation of the name from census to marriage record. After checking online for any Ellen Schmetzer's in Lehigh County and surrounding counties born between 1830 and 1850 outside of the family of Adam Schmetzer I came up with no person of that name. It is on this basis, and there is a caveat that I could be mistaken, that I connect Ellen Schmetzer of the marriage certificate with Elemina/Elmina Schmetzer of the family of Adam Schmetzer.
