While not the best source to begin with, James and Emmeline are living as husband and wife on the 1870, 1880, and 1900 Lehigh County census.
The source for their birth and death dates are from their headstones in the Mickleys Church cemetery, Whitehall, Lehigh, Pennsylvania.

Further and firmer substantiation of the marriage of James Krause and Emalina Ludwig is the death record of their daughter, Mary Louisa, who married Albert Clewell. She died before her parents at the young age of 29. Her parents are listed as James Krause and Emmalina Ludwig. Subsequent research found the Pennsylvania State Death Certificate no. 109413 of Emalina Ludwig Krause on which her parents are listed as David Ludwig and Lydia Fatzinger. This record substatiated information already found.
