Grace is listed as Gracie M Clark. The M. stands for Marguerite, which while never a legal name of Grace Clark, was used by her in her early years as an affectation according to my mother.

  • His parents were Harry Schwerin (1850-1923) & Theresa Stern (1857-1936).He had a brother J. Edward Schwerin (info from father and mother's obits)
  • Oct 1903 he is arrested and charged with forging a check in Brooklyn, NYC.
  • Dec 1903 he makes his way to Denver and marries Gracie Clark.
  • 1904/1905 he appears in the Denver city directory as an insurance solicitor.
  • Oct 1904 Harry Schwerin Jr. born
  • June 1906 Los Angeles, he is arrested an sentenced to 6 years in prison for check forgery.
  • March 1908 he appeals to the Gov. of Calif. for clemency.
  • July 1, 1908, he is granted clemency and he is released from prison. -- goes to NYC and isn't permitted to return to California
  • 1908 Divorce from Grace
  •.May 1913 he marries Alice Zorn in Brooklyn

  • 1930 census living in Brooklyn w/Alice
  • Nov 1930 sells house in Brooklyn (probably when he and Alice moved to Lynbrook, L.I.)
  • April 1939 dies of apparent suicide. Aged 55
