Note: uary of his brother, Isaac Moore from the 15 Jan 1909 Semi-Weekly Irontonian which states, "He is also survived by the following brothers....William of Indianapolis, Ind." William and Malinda are found on the 1900 Indiana census under William J Moore. This document is the source for the birth month and year of William and Malinda, her state of nativity, and the year of their marriage. Source Citation Year: 1900; Census Place: Clark, Johnson, Indiana; Roll: 381; Page: 8A; Enumeration District: 0003; FHL microfilm: 1240381. William J and Malinda are also found on the 1870 and 1880 Union County, Indiana census with children. Source Citation Year: 1870; Census Place: Union, Union, Indiana; Roll: M593_363; Page: 81B; Image: 472; Family History Library Film: 545862. Source Citation Year: 1880; Census Place: Union, Union, Indiana; Roll: 316; Family History Film: 1254316; Page: 76B; Enumeration District: 052; Image: 0155 The source for the death of William J Moore is his headstone in the Acton cemetery, in Marion County, Indiana. A clue for an earlier marriage of William Jefferson to a Mary Elizabeth Sampson was found on the William J Moore page of FindaGrave.com. Two wives are listed on that page - Malinda J and a first and brief marriage to a Mary Elizabeth Sampson, which includes the names of her parents. This first marriage of William Jefferson and Mary Elizabeth was confirmed by the following source: "Indiana Marriages, 1780-1992," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XF8X-161 : 3 December 2014), William J. Moore and Mary E. Sampson, Feb 1866; citing reference 296; FHL microfilm 499,370. The information found on FindaGrave is the source for the birth and death dates of both wives of William Jefferson -Mary Elizabeth and Malinda J. - those dates being inscribed on their headstones in the Acton cemetery. Mary Elizabeth's headstone reads "died aged 18 years, 3 months, & 5 days, Daughter of R. and E. Sampson." The year of birth for Malinda J is listed on her headstone as 1849, not Dec 1851 as per the above cited 1900 census. I have used the date on the headstone.
Note: The source of finding William and his bride was a clue in the 1909 obit
