Notes
a. Note: live at the time of Jacob's death or who her children named in his will were, though she obviously had married and had chldren. The following phrase appears in the 1852 will of Jacob Diehl, which usually implies death of the person/parent named:
"...to the children of my daughter Mary..." without gifting Mary herself anything.
In trying to find if Mary's children were named anywhere, and if indeed Mary MAY have still been alive at the time and married, I received the following response from Diehl researcher Ed Deal in 2015:
  Neil,
Not sure what Jacob meant in his will by "....children of my daughter Mary..." Usually when a child is deceased the testator will say so......i.e., "...children of my LATE daughter Mary...." Sure wish he'd named them! Also, on occasion I have seen testators who hate their son-in-law and put a phrase like "....children of my daughter Mary..." in the will so the inheritance stays away from the son-in-law and goes to the kids.....
I then thought there might be an Orphans Court file related to the estate......yep.....here's the disappointing results.

Acct 2-194– File not found, Northampton Co archives 2011 Searched all
1855 Orphans Court Book on familysearch.com. Few sections were blocked out when scanned, presumably related to adoptions (or illegitimacy?). Searched all 1855…..JACOB DEAHL entry not found, unless it was one of the few sections blocked out. Searched back in 1854 to OCT, not found there either….continues a mystery.
So......the blocked out portions might be the one with Jacob Deahl's estate covered......sounds like we need to look at the original book in Northampton Co......if they'll let us see it. (Lehigh Co refuses to let me search the Orphans Court books, even though some records are 200 years old)
I had suspected that Mary had married Michael Kindt, who bought several articles from the estate, but she later was proven to be in a different branch of the family.
SO........where is the Jacob Diehl bible that Henry Knecht bought for $2??????? Wouldn't you love to see it!!
