a. Note:   0 Northampton County, Pennsylvania census record. The marriage date is from correspondence with Mrs. Norman Rutman of Bethlehem, PA in the 1980's and Marriage Register, Courthouse, Allentown, PA. At present (2012) there is no record of any children for this couple. They may have had children before Edwin's early death in 1884. A Sarah L or Sarah E Rutman with children cannot be found on the 1900 Northampton County census. This indicates she may have moved out of the state, remarried, or died.
  The source for the death of Edwin Rutman is the newspaper Argus, November, 1884.
  Subsequent to writing the above paragraph sources for children of Edwin and Sarah Rutman was found. The Lehigh County Death Register held in the collection of the LCHS records:
