a. Note:   CONFLICT: The 1881 census for Campobello lists Walter's date of birth as abt 1879. Also Pat Townsend stated the date of birth to be October 30 1877 at Campobello.
  The following Obituary issued for Walter on 21, October 1948. (Do not know which paper it appeared in.)
  "Walter Irving Searles 70, of Wilson's Beach, Campobello, Canada, NB passed away at the home of his son Balfour Searles in South Lubec on Saturday 16 October. Mr. Searles had been ill for some months and had resided with his son while receiving treatment.
 Mr. Searles was born in Wilson's beach, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Searles and had resided there all of his life, but for brief periods of employment in Lubec having followed the fishing industry in various capacities. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Wilson Beach. Surviving are his widow, the former Faerley Henderson, son Balfour and grandson Robert."
