a. Note:   An interesting thing about Auntie Lott is that she was the weakling of the family. She had a bout of glandular fever or rheumatic fever (not sure which)during her late teens, so her health was frail. Amazing when you think she will be 103 on August 1st!!!
  A story she and Uncle Leo often told was how they met. My Dad, Jim, was in the Royal Navy and knew Leo who was a sailor on his ship. They became friends and Dad showed Leo a photo of Auntie Lott that he kept in his wallet. I guess Leo was impressed, so when they had some leave coming, he asked Dad if he could come home with him to meet Lottie. They arrived back at Nanny and Grandad Abbott's place and Dad introduced Leo to Lottie. She told me she got very snooty and told them she and a girlfriend were off to a party, and certainly wouldn't be spending any time with them that day. Unknown to the two girls, Dad and Leo followed them to the party and were sitting on the wall outside, waiting, when the girls came to leave. I guess persistence paid off for Leo and they fell in love over that weekend. They had a wonderful marriage and were devoted to each other all their days. He died three weeks before Brian & I got married, although Auntie Lott came to our wedding as she said he would have wanted her to come.
