LEIGHTON, George Flewelling His journey on earth came to a peaceful end early Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Bayview Residence in Pointe Claire, Quebec. His loving and very devoted granddaughter, Melissa Leighton, was at his side, as she had been for the last three years, taking care of his needs and ensuring that he had the very best care possible. Melissa spent many sleepless nights being there when her grandfather needed her most. Words are not enough to express the gratitude on behalf of all of us for Melissa's outstanding contribution in maintaining the best quality of life possible until his final breath.
Survived by his brother William. George was the father of George Jr., Nancy Kizner, Barbara Aubut, Sandra Crotty, Stephen Leighton, Sharon Tasse and Belinda Leighton. He was predeceased by his son Wayne Robert Leighton, and his loving wife Evangeline (Carr) Leighton. George was a grandfather of twelve and a great-grandfather of thirteen.
A special thank you to Annalea Liberty Leighton, for over forty years of dedication, love and care of George. He was eighty-nine.
Our family also wants to recognize the outstanding care of all the staff and volunteers of the Bayview Center, with special mention to Ava and Rita. Visitation will take place at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex on Monday, July 6, from 12 to 2 p.m. followed by a brief ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
