Note: On August 4 2002, Bill Leighton came to visit with his granddaughter Heather who was in Moncton on a short stay. He stayed two hours which he never does and spoke of the war: how he was in the hospital for over 2 years when he was wounded in WW2 and also living though 9 days of bombing in London England during the war years. He also spoke of briefly remembering his grandmother Lillian Wilbur. They grew up at 49 Lewis St., Moncton NB as children. June 17 2007 Heather called her grandfather to wish him a "Happy Father's Day". It was a brief conversation, I asked how old he was now... "84 but the military think I'm 88 because I lied when I went into the war. I was only 15 at the time. I was paid $1.10 a day and that was ALOT of money back then". ---- Source: The Legion's Last Post Magazine http://www.legionmagazine.com/en/lastpost/details.asp?alpha=L&offset=4 850&LastPostData_ID=297336 William C.
