Note:   In 1805 John Davis had custody of the Orphans (Land Lottery of 1805) and David Caldwell went to Cape Girardeau District, Missouri, in 1806. He lived on land purchased by John Davis after the Louisiana Purchase. He sold the land to Andrew Burns but continued to live there. Andrew Burns was a neighbor of William Caldwell in Greene County, Georgia. William Caldwell was possibly from Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and had a sister who married John Davis Sr and after his death she married second Robert Grier/Greer and Mary moved to Greene County, Georgia with her second husband and children from her first marriage plus the children born to Robert Grier during his first marriage while living in York County, Pennsylvania. Robert Grier and Mary Caldwell Davis had a daughter Jane Grier born August 17, 1778.
