Note:   Needham Johnson was born May 22, 1834, in Wayne County, Missouri, and married July 10,1856, Madison County, Missouri, Hulda E. Johnson, officiated by Reverend Joseph D. Johnson, the uncle of Needham Johnson. Hulda Elizabeth Johnson was born about 1833 in Perry County, Missouri, and is the widow of William Constant Johnson, the son of Noble Johnson and Needhams cousin. She is the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Pinkerton) Murray of Perry County, Missouri, the father born July 24, 1801, and the mother born about 1803, and both natives of North Carolina. Mary (Pinkerton) Murray is the daughter of John Pinkerton and a sister of Margaret Pinkerton, the second wife of Noble Johnson. Joseph Murray married Mary Pinkerton in Perry County, Missouri, on September 5, 1827, and Mary (Pinkerton) Murray is an heir in the Estate of John Pinkerton.
  Needham Johnson served as a Private, Sergeant Major, and by 1864 was promoted to Captain and Aid de Camp in the Confederate Army, 4th Arkansas Infantry. He enlisted August 17, 1861 and was honorably discharged April 15, 1865, having served during the entire Civil War. He participated in many major engagements, including the Battle of Pea Ridge, the Battle of Richmond City, the Battle of Jackson, the Battle of Murfeesboro, and the Battle of Chickamauga. Years later it was stated by one of his Commanding Generals that he was a gallant, brave, and trusted soldier.
