 Salina was the daughter of John James HARRELL and Lovey Caroline FLETCHER. She was the sixth of 11 children, and she was 8 years old when her mother died following childbirth.
 Salina married Thomas Jefferson Cook on 14 Sep 1883 in Collin County, Texas, and immediately became "mother" to Thomas's five children by his two prior wives who had died young: James William Cook, son of Thomas and his first wife Isabella Rice; and John Felkner Cook, Effie Ann Cook, Henry Hood Cook, and Susan Felkner Cook, children of Susan Felker, who died in 1882.
 Thomas and Salina had seven children of their own: Mary Eleanor Cook Smith, Margaret Elizabeth Cook Kemp, Thomas Harrell "Shorty" Cook, an infant son who died on the day of his birth, George Lane Cook, Edward Milton Cook, and Bessie Vernon Cook Henson.
 Salina was a loving and caring mother to all of "her" children.
