 George Edward Smith, 91, of Amarillo died Friday, May 17, 2002.
 Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Hale
 Center with Ted Latham, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will
 be in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery of Plainview by Holley Funeral
 Home of Canyon.
 Mr. Smith was born April 11, 1911, in Hale Center. He married Georgia
 Parker on March 9, 1932, in Muleshoe. They resided in Hale Center.
 They were engaged in farming until 1974. They moved to Canyon and four
 years ago, moved to Amarillo.
 While living in Hale Center, he served on the board of the Plainview
 Co-op Compress, Hi-Plains Hospital, Hale Center Co-op Gin and Greens
 Springs Water Supply Corp. of Denton County. He was past president of
 the Hale Center Lions Club.
 He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne P. Smith; and a daughter,
 Wynejean Smith.
 Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donnie Smith and wife, Donna, of
 Amarillo and Edward B. Smith and wife, Beth, of Copperas Cove; a
 brother, William Smith of Olton; a sister, Vernice Wheeler of Odessa;
 eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
 The family suggests memorials be to Boys Ranch, 600 W. 11th Ave.,
 Amarillo, TX 79101; BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.

 George was the son of William Bailey Sr. and Mary Eleanor "Ella" Cook Smith. He married Georgia Alice Parker 09 Mar 1932 in Muleshoe, Bailey County, Texas, the daughter of William Riley Parker and Effie Vidue Smith. George and Georgia had at least four children, Dwain Parker Smith, Wynogean Smith Nelson, Edward B Smith, and another daughter.
