Notes
a. Note:   His nickname in his wife's family was "Dix" (we have no idea why - the Cushings, like many families, all had family nicknames)
Thanks to Vincent Trainor, we now have 2 good photos of John.
He lived in Clermont,PA, 40 miles from Coudersport, 12 miles from Smethport.
Birthplace as Newtown, CT is not verified but 1880,1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 census all show Connecticut
( WFT v10t3213 shows place of birth as Newton, CT. - that is not a misspelling, the name of the town actually was changed)
 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------
I have a photo of his gravestone in the Keating plot in St Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery in Smethport, PA. that I took in August 2003
 It reads:
 " Father
 John F.
