Street. Mary Decker, head, age 76, owned her home, value $3500, not a farm, born in NY, both parents born in Ireland, occ: landlady, boarding house. Age at first marriage : 23. no other residents listed. She did not own a radio set. (But there was one next door in the boarding house she ran.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Apparently sometime after 1910, her husband Fred left and she started taking in boarders, and ran a boarding house with her sister and her daughter in 1920 and by 1930 she had moved next door by herself, and her daughter and husband lived in the borading house and Mary continued to act as landlady and owner. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- (Note: if she was born in 1856, she should have been 74 in 1930 not 76 ?? The 1900 census is the source for the 1856 birth year. That census listed her as 44 years old which matched the 1856 date, but the 1910 census shows her as 56 which is 2 years older than she should have been, and the 1910 1920 and 1930 follow that through so possibly the 1900 census is incorrect and that either the enumerator got the year wrong and miscalculated the age or vice-versa. Also if she was born in 1856 and her first marriage was at age 23 as the 1930 census states, then she would have been married in 1879 not 1877 as we have, but if the 1900 census is wrong and she was really 46 then not 44, then she was born in 1854 so the 1877 marriage date would be correct if she was 23 then.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- lived in Clermont, PA. She was married twice. First to a Bart ? Sugram ? June 4 1877 in Norwich CT. Then a second marriage to Fred Decker in Dec 31, 1896 in Clermont, PA. One daughter by the second marriage. It is unknown if she was divorced or if her first husband died. WFT #3213 does not show Bart Sugram and has the date of her first marriage listed on the Decker marriage in error. From the 1910 census data it appears that her second husband also died or ran off between 1900 and 1909 (he was 25, she was 44 in 1900), but she was not listed as a widow in any of the censuses nor as divorced.
