Note: according to the 1930 census Robert was 26 and Elsie was 19 when they first married. That would place the marriage in 1909 not 1911 ?? He was a physician. He attanded the Peddie School in 1903-1904 together with Lawrence Lyle Larrabee and Tenerife Elizabeth Temple. The latter two later married. We have the Peddie School yearbook that includes photos of all 3 people and many interesting and amusing pieces of information. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1900 Census, Coudersport Borough, Second Ward, Eulalia Township, Potter County, Pennsylvania, ED #105, page #9, dwelling #182, family #187, genealogy.com image #50 of 91, enumerated June 6, 1900. Dan McConneghy(sic), head, age 46, born May 1854 in Ireland, both parents born in Ireland, married 18 years, immigrated 1851, in US for 49 years, naturalized citizen, occ: Passenger Conductor - RR, orned his house free of mortgage Elenar(sic), wife, age 43, born Nov 1856 in Canada (Eng.), both parents born in Ireland, married 18 years, had 8 children, 7 living Robert, son, age 16, born Nov 1883 in PA, at school Mary, daughter, age 15, born Nov 1884 in PA, at school Tillie, daughter, age 14, born April 1886 in PA, at school Fannie, daughter, age 9, born June 1890 in PA, at school Dan, son, age 11, born July 1889* in PA, at school John, son, age 7, born June 1892 in PA, at school Elenar(sic), daughter, age 6, born Sept 1893 in PA, at school Note : This is a clue that Ellen Keating's name may actually have been Eleanor Keating rather than Ellen, both she and her daughter are recorded here in the misspelling "Elenar or Elenor" although she is not listed that way anywhere later that we have found. Dan Jr was listed out of order he should have come before Fannie. *Dan's birthyear is shown as 1889 and his age as 11, but he was born in July so he wouln't have been 11 for another month, but we have his birthyear from other sources as 1888 so 11 would have been correct. Matilde was called Tillie for short just as Frances was called Fannie, and both Daniels are recorded as Dan. This enumerator obviously did not insist on formality when it came to names :-) The child who was not living was Eleanor's twin, James who had died at 5 months -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- 1910 US Census - not located yet ------------------------------------------------------- World War I Draft Registration Card - Sept 12 1918(?) ser #885 Order # 2208 Robert Keating McConeghy address: 249 Fisk Street, Pittsburgh, Allegany County, Pennsylvania age 35 born November 4, 1883 occ: Physician - self employed 249 Fisk St nearest relative : Mrs Elsie McConeghy 249 Fisk Street tall, slender, blue eyes, dark hair -------------------------------------------------------- 1920 US Census Ward 9, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA, dwelling 211, family 255, page 24 of 24, enumerated January 16, 1920. roll T625_1520, page 12B, ED #460 living at #249 Fisk St, rented Robert McConeghey (sic) , head, 36, born in PA, father born in PA, mother born in PA, occ: doctor M.D. Elsie, wife, 30, born in PA, father born in PA, mother born in PA Josephine, daughter, 8, born in PA, parents born in PA James, son, 6, born in PA, parents born in PA Robert, son, 5, born in PA, parents born in PA Lillian Lockard, cousin, 49, widow, born in PA, father born in PA, mother born in PA (last name sometimes indexed as McConegny iin census index) Lillian Lockard is a complete surprise. We were previously unaware of her existence. Lockard obviously was her married name. She must be the Lilly M. Walker who is listed , age 9, in the 1880 census as a grand-daughter of Eliza Walker, we have as yet been unable to identify her parents. They may have been Charles and Phoebe Walker. She was born around 1871. I located a Lockard family living in New Rockhill, Huntingdon Co in 1880 with 2 sons, Thomas G, 12, and Harvey C. 9 either of whom might have been Lillian's future husband. In 1880 Lilly was living in Orbisonia/Rockhill too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------ 1930 US Census, Coudersport Borough, First ward, Potter County, Pennsylvania, ED #6, dwelling # 546, family #556, sheet #22-B, image #43 of 53, enumerated May 2 1930 (address 103 Water(??) Elsie herself had apparently succumbed to his charms when a student nurse, resulting in their first child Josephine being born out of wedlock. ---------------------------------------------------- Robert is mentioned in the obituary of WILLIAM PARKHILL GROVES - February 14, 1917, the death of William Parkhill Groves brings to mind the club of young boys organized by Mrs. James L. Knox in 1896, known as the Excelsior Chautauqua Young Folks' Reading Union. There were eighteen boys in the organization and the death of Mr. Groves is the first of the number. All but one or two are now married and have grown to be useful men in the business interests of their communities and although scattered, have personal ties that bring them back home. The first officers of the society were: Major Seibert, president; Raymond Dieffenbacher, Vice-president; DeForest Scoville, secretary; William Groves, treasurer. The members of the society were: William Groves, Almon Grave, Carlton Grave, Clarence Kiehle, DeForest Scoville, Robert K. McConeghy, Walter Joerg, Major S. Seibert, Raymond Dieffenbacher, Don Rounseville, Louis Faulkner, William C. Rennells, Guy O. Crosby, Rathbone A. Knox, Scott Sterner, Lee Horton, Fay Glassmire, Arch Lyon, Robert Quick, James Quick. William was one of the most earnest and conscientious workers in the little band and never failed to be present at a meeting. His appreciation of the work of Mrs. Knox was doing for the boys and his evident enjoyment of it, was characteristic of his thoughtfulness for the others, among he stood as an exemplary member. Another obit: February 14, 1917 - William Parkhill Groves was born in Coudersport, December 26, 1882. Was never married. Since he was 21 has been afflicted with epilepsy which finally proved fatal. He traveled four times to the Rocky Mountains and twice to the coast for the sake of the out doors and worked a farm on Baker Creek with the same object in view, hoping to baffle the foe to health. Funeral services in Presbyterian church. Rev. Donehoo officiating. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------
