all people were marked as having both parents of foreign birth, (in fact almost every person in the township had parents of foreign birth mostly some German area)
Notes: Tracy (Theresa) was recorded as being 1 month old, but her birth month was recorded as April and the census was not taken until the end of July when she would have been at least 2 months old possibly 3.
Cristopher Hafner was checked in the column marked deaf and dumb, blind, insane or idiotic, there was no indication as to which condition applied however.
Both Bernard Amend and Cristopher Hafner were marked as being male citizens of the US over 21 years old, so they must have been naturalized unless the enumerator just marked any male over 21.

Also Jacob is incorrectly shown as born in 1859 here, but his gravestone says 1858 and in the 1860 census he was age 2

Jacob Amend, who operated Clermont's Meat Market, was one of several offspring of Bernhard (Bernard) and Margaret Hafner Amend. Both the Amends and Hafners remained in the Clermont area when Teutonia dissolved in 1845. Jacob married the sister of John F Keating, who operated the Clermont House Hotel,
Jacob was a Sergeant Township Road Supervisor, Sergeant Township School Board Director, and past Grand Master of the Clermont Lodge of the International Order of Odd Fellows, which met in their building atop Mead Hill at the southern end of North Street. Their children were Bernhard (Bernard), Marrie (Marie), Gretha(Margaret), Lucius and Leonard (twins).
Coincidentally, Jacob's sister Tessie(Theresa) married Jerry McCarthy, who operated a meat market in Smethport.
Jacob's brother Phillip committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near the Gumboot Mines in August 1930. His body wasn't discovered until December 1st.
The Amend School, one of eight in the Sergeant Township School District, was located near the Katrine Swamp, along the Clermont-Milesburg Turnpike (now the Clermont-Wilcox Road).I have a photo of her gravestone in the Amend plot in St Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery in Smethport, PA. that I took in August 2003
