Note: Was born at 5:30 AM per birth record. He was a master tinsmith and pipefitter. At one point he was foreman at the Gasworks in Arbroath. --------------------------------------------------------------- His business ad in a 1904 booklet, states : Andrew Taylor, Tinsmith, Plumber & Gasfitter, 16 Guthrie Port, Arbroath. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We have a copy of the apprenticeship Indenture Contract between David Cook, Tinsmith and Gasfitter and Andrew Taylor, apprentice, dated Jan 18 1870. He was apprenticed in the Tinsmith and Gasfitting trade at the age of 13, for a period of four years. The first part of the contract details the penalties the apprentice must pay for absence from work. The second part lists the wages the apprentice shall receive : for the first year, three shillings per week, four shillings per week during the second year, five shillings weekly during the third year and six shillings weekly during the fourth year.
