a. Note:   per Greenhalgh notes : "never married, kind, friendly, stubborn, difficult to live with."
another note state that she lived in the "Concrete Cottages" in Arbroath.
Norman Taylor describes her in a letter as :
"a kindly and friendly soul, but for all that a thrawn old budie, as I knew her, and difficult to live with, quite a concern to Father [David Paton Taylor], when the time came that she ought not to be left to live on her own, but then there is, after all, so much good in the world that things are seldom quite as bad as one may anticipate. There resided near-to a Mrs Miln, to have known whom I consider to have been a privilige. As a young girl she had lived in an adjoining house and knew my aunt from early days, and now married with a family of her own, has a kindly and helpful disposition to all about her, my aunt included, and seemed to think nothing of turning out, during the night, to keep a nursing eye on Mary, during periods when no one could be found who would live in with her. It seemed to me at times that she (Mrs Miln) had stepped right out of James Barrie's window in Thrums (Kirriemuir) a page out of the Auld Licht Idylls, she in fact, being a member of the still surviving original Seceders Kirk, and so and Auld Licht. I doubt if any of these churches now survive, but I have a lively recollection of Father's good-natured chaffing with her about their having an organ in the adjoining Schoolroom, since none might, according to the rules, be introduced into the Kirk itself."
