Notes
a. Note:   Married late in life but had no children (according to Norman Taylor).
He was a carpenter and skilled cabinetmaker.
Norman Taylor relates how his father, David Paton Taylor, was pleased to tell the pleasure he had in going, as a laddie, with his brother John when the wood was to be selected for the making of a bookcase which they had in their home.
He emigrated to the USA in later years where he worked building fine homes, and ended up cabinet making for special homes.
Norman relates that his father once told him that when John arrived in America he would not tolerate being bossed by the Union, and set up trading on his own.
In later life he was able to command a sufficient demand for his services, cabinet-making to the demand of his customers, but at an earlier stage he joined forces with a friend to build houses of the American wood-frame type. The partner looked after the foundations, etc., while John took care of all the timbering.
The partner's name was Petterson, and must have been much younger than John.
Jack lived in New York in later years according to family recollections.
