Note: apparently William emigrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada first where he married an unidentified local girl. they had one child Jimmy (James). Then his first wife died of T.B.and he married another girl from P.E.I. named Louise (Lulu) He was a Baker, and by 1910 he owned his own Bakery in Lowell, but in 1920 he apparently was no longer running his own bakery. According to family stories (probably from the recollections of Ruth Virginia Walker) William used to fish at Prince Edward Island and he met Lula Katherine McDonald there. She had sisters and her father worked in customs. She played the piano and did sewing. ---------------------------------------------------- 1880 US Census, Boston, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, ED 664, page 1-A (stamped 141), dwelling #1, family #1, enumerated June 1, 1880, ancestry.com image #1 of 45 address: 82 Church Street (hotel or boarding house) William Walker, boarder, age 26, single, born in Scotland, occ: Baker ------------------------------------------------------ 1900 US Census, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Ward 5, ED 801, page 12-B, Dwelling # 137, family # 230, enumerated June 9, 1900, ancestry.com image # 24 of 39 address: 287 Fayette Street William Walker, head, age 47, born Jan 1853 in Scotland, parents born in Scotland, immig 1876, Alien, married 2 years, occ: Baker-BTC, rented his house Katie, wife, age 24, born Apr 1876 in Preince Edward Island, (Canada), parents born in P.E.I., married 2 years, had 1 child James, son, age 17, born May 1883 in Massachusetts, father born in Scotland, mother born in P.E.I., occ: Baker-BTC Hazel, daughter, age 1, born May 1899 in Massachusetts, father born in Scotland, mother born in P.E.I. (wife's name looks like Hatie, but writing is sloppy, it probably was Katie, maybe for Katherine?, she later went by her first name Louise or Lulu, but her middle initial was K. James was William's son by his first marriage, both wives were born in Prince Edward Island, Hazel's birth month in the census looks like March, but again the writing is sloppy and we had her birthdate as May 24 already. William's number of years married was first entered as 18 then changed to 2, that probably indicates that he was married to his first wife about 1882 ) ------------------------------------------------------------------ 1910 US Census, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Ward 5, ED 858, page #13-A, dwelling #170, family #291, enumerated April 25, 1910, ancestry.com image #25 of 52 address: 287 Fayette Street William Walker, head, age 57, married 12 years, born in Scotland, parents born in Scotland, immig 1876, Na,, Occ Baker-Own Bakery, rented his house Lulu, wife, age 33, married 12 years, 7 childrem, 6 living, born in Canada, parents born in Canada, immig 1898 James, son, age 28, single, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, occ: Baker-Bakery Hazel, daughter, age 11, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, attended school William, son, age 9, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, attended school George, son, age 7, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, attended school Myrtle, daughter, age 5, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, attended school Jessie, daughter, age 3, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada Ruth, daughter, age 6/12, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada Jennie Arthur, age 50, servant, single, born in Canada, parents born in Canada, immig 1902, occ: servant-private family Eva Arthur, age 14, servant, born in Canada, parents born in Canada, immig 1910, occ: servant-private family (Eva possibly was Jennie's sister or niece, since Jennie is single, they possible came from Prince Edward Island, and might have been relatives of William's first wife whose name we do not yet know) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1920 US Census, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Ward 3, ED 197, page #8-A, dwelling #122, family #168, enumerated January 6&7, 1920, ancestry.com image #15 of 34 address 40 Gates Street William Walker, head, age 67, born in Scotland, parents born in Scotland, immig 1876, Na, 1896, Occ Baker-Bakery, rented his house Lulu, wife, age 42, born in Canada, parents born in Canada, immig 1898, Na. 1898 James, son, age 36, single, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, occ: Baker Hazel, daughter, age 20, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, occ: Storing(?)-Machine Shop William, son, age 19, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, occ: machinist-machine shopl George, son, age 18, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, occ: helper(?)-Shipyard Myrtle, daughter, age 15, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, attended school Jessie, daughter, age 13, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, attended school Ruth, daughter, age 10, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, attended school (William apparently was no longer was running his own Bakery) ----------------------------------------------- 1930 US Census, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, ED 138, page 18-A (stamped 253), dwelling #228, family #258, enumerated April 9, 1930, Ancestry.com image #35 of 50 address 100 Viola Street William Walker, head, age 77, married at age 30, born in Scotland, parents born in Scotland, immig 1876, owned his house $5500, owned a radio set Lulu K., wife, age 53, married at age 21 born in Canada, parents born in Canada, immig 1878 William, son, age 29, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, occ: steamfitter-contractor George, son, age 27, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, Myrtle, daughter, age 25, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, occ: Billing Clerk-Woolen Mill Ruth V.(?), age 20, born in MA, father born in Scotland, mother born in Canada, occ: Student Nurse-hospital They lived just 2 houses away from Peter Caddell and wife Jessie Walker Caddell who was William's sister --------------------------------------------------------------------------
