Mrs Jessie Walker Caddell, mother of City Councilor, John B. Caddell, and a resident of this city for the past 50 years, died yesterday at her home, 94 Viola Street, following an illness of several months. She was the widow of peter M. Caddell. Born in Arbroath, Forfarshire, Scotland, the daughter of James and Mary Birell Walker, Mrs Caddell came to Lowell 50 years ago. She was well known here and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 40 years and the first president and charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Order of Scottish Clans. Besides Councilor Caddell, she leaves two sons, William J. Caddell, of this city, and Walker M. Caddell of Boston; one sister, Mrs Mary Taylor, of this city; two sisters-in-law, Bella McIntyre, and Lulu Walker of Lowell; four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in this country and in Scotland. Friends may call at the White & Roy Chapel, 236 Westford Street, after 7 p.m. tonight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Lowell Sun - June 13, 1942 Funerals Funeral services for Mrs Jessie Walker Caddell were held from the White & Roy Chapel, 236 Westford Street, yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. There were many flowers. Rev. Lewis E. Shields, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiated. Wilfred Kershaw presided at the organ. The City of Lowell was represented by the following : Mayor's Secretary, George Keefe, City Messenger George Gorman, the City Council by President Joseph Sweeny, Bart Callery, Raymond Lord, Joseph Dussault, J. Elzear Dionne, City Clerk Perry D. Thompson, Fire Chief Charles Stackpole, former Chield James C.Sullivan, Warren White, and Election Commissioner Warren White. The Lowell Housing Unit sent William Gargan and William Johnston; City Library, David F. Connors, librarian, Mrs Eleanor Coffyn, Blanche Gray, Esther Delaney, and Michael Keefe. Ladies Auxiliary to Clan Grant, O.S.C. was represented by Mrs Elizabeth Thomson, Isabel Kimm, Annie Johnston, Margaret Stephen, Janet McGowan, Elizabeth Campbell, and Elizabeth Newton. The bearers were William Walker, John Taylor, William Caddell, David Caddell, John McIntyre, and John Caddell. Burial took place in the family lot in Edson Cemetery where the committal was given by Rev Mr Shields.
