Note: twin of James who died at 6 months. Her date of birth is shown in the Eulalia Cemetery Company records in Coudersport as Sept 21, 1894. We believe this is incorrect and that the correct year was 1893. The 1900 census supports this too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1900 Census, Coudersport Borough, Second Ward, Eulalia Township, Potter County, Pennsylvania, ED #105, page #9, dwelling #182, family #187, genealogy.com image #50 of 91, enumerated June 6, 1900. Dan McConneghy(sic), head, age 46, born May 1854 in Ireland, both parents born in Ireland, married 18 years, immigrated 1851, in US for 49 years, naturalized citizen, occ: Passenger Conductor - RR, orned his house free of mortgage Elenar(sic), wife, age 43, born Nov 1856 in Canada (Eng.), both parents born in Ireland, married 18 years, had 8 children, 7 living Robert, son, age 16, born Nov 1883 in PA, at school Mary, daughter, age 15, born Nov 1884 in PA, at school Tillie, daughter, age 14, born April 1886 in PA, at school Fannie, daughter, age 9, born June 1890 in PA, at school Dan, son, age 11, born July 1889* in PA, at school John, son, age 7, born June 1892 in PA, at school Elenar(sic), daughter, age 6, born Sept 1893 in PA, at school Note : This is a clue that Ellen Keating's name may actually have been Eleanor Keating rather than Ellen, both she and her daughter are recorded here in the misspelling "Elenar or Elenor" although she is not listed that way anywhere later that we have found. Dan Jr was listed out of order he should have come before Fannie. *Dan's birthyear is shown as 1889 and his age as 11, but he was born in July so he wouln't have been 11 for another month, but we have his birthyear from other sources as 1888 so 11 would have been correct. Matilde was called Tillie for short just as Frances was called Fannie, and both Daniels are recorded as Dan. This enumerator obviously did not insist on formality when it came to names :-) The child who was not living was Eleanor's twin, James who had died at 5 months -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- 1910 US Census, ED #111, Ward 2, Coudersport, Eulalia Township, Potter County, Pennsylvania, dwelling #, family # , sheet 10-A, image 19 of 34, enumerated April 25, 1910. address : 107 Erie (?) At 603 Ross Street : Mary M. McConeghy, head, 32, single, born in PA, father born in Ireland, mother tongue Scotch, mother born in Ireland, mother tongue Irish, owned the home free of mortgage, no occupation Ella M. McConeghy , sister, 26, single, born in PA, parents same as above, no occupation also Anna M. Freiburg, boarder, 35, single,Chief operator, Bell Telephone, born in PA, father and mother born in Germany with their mother tongue German (verified by examination of the census images) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- Note : Ella's age matches her birth date, but Mary's does not. She either was born about 1888 or was really about 36 in 1920. We believe that their mother, Ellen Keating, was actually born in Canada, not Ireland, but we have only family data to support this so far, no other documentation. The listing of the father's mother tongue as Scotch probably meant that they were considered to be Scotch-Irish Protestants from the North of Ireland whereas Ellen Keating's family had come from the West of Ireland and probably were Irish Catholics. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- According to family lore as transmitted by Jane Dorgeloh [Muranyi] and apparently received from her mother Josephine McConeghy [Dorgeloh], Eleanor was simple minded and her older brother Robert, a physician, did not want her to marry and have children. She apparently eloped with the much younger town rake, and it took the family some time to locate her. Supposedly when they brought her back to Coudersport, her brother Robert forced her to have an abortion. This does not exactly seem to correspond with the other data we have since we show a child, Lawence Myers, born in 1931, but we have no further information on him, so he might have died in infancy, or at birth or it could have been a concealed abortion. Supposedly Eleanor and Charles Myers were divorced sometime between 1944 and 1950. I have no information about where this fact comes from. If anyone has any information that disproves any of this please contact me. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------
