a. Note:   He emigrated to the USA in 1850, was joined by his wife in 1851, they settled in Newtown, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
 Apparently they were living in Avon, Livingston Co., NY by 1854, and then in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada by 1857 through 1862or63.
 Buried in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. (Not sure if this is correct or if the grave were ever located by the family)
 WFT #3213 has date of death as Dec 27, 1889.

 The 1860 census index for Newtown Connecticut only shows a George Keating age 41 a farm laborer born in Ireland and apparently unmarried. Might have been a relative but no way to tell.
 John and family had apparently moved from Newtown by 1854 in any case.
 I have not searched the images to make sure that there were no other mis-indexed people.
 There were no John Keatings at all in the index for CT.

 I don't really have any evidence for most of this, as far as I know it is all family lore.
 I have not located John or Mary with the children in any census yet.
 I have located most of the children separately in later census records.
