Notes
a. Note:   1880 US Census, Buckeye Precinct, Yolo County, California, ED 160, page 10-B (337-B), lines 39-50, ancestry.com image #10 of 23, enumerated June 15, 1880
It is unclear if these people all were living in the same dwelling or same household or not.
The previous households were numbered 176-188, 177-189, 178-190, 199(179?)-191, then this one appears to be numbered 186-198 and appears to be continued on the next page with the same 186-198 numbers again and 8 more people (all born in China) with occupations of servant, cook, meatchopper (or wood chopper), and laborer, and the next household is labeled 187-199.
Most of the other households in this area seem to be single family farming families
At least the Bray family seems to be fairly clear
Ema(?) Edwards, (blank-rel), age 23, widow, occ: blank, born in NY, father born in Conn, mother born in Mass
William Tho.(?) Johnsson, (blank-rel), age 18, single, occ: laborer, born in CA, father born in Mo., mother born in IL
Abner(?) M. Phillips, (blank-rel), age 24, single, occ: laborer, unemployed for 3 months, born in MO, father born in KY, mother born in MO
Edward L. Bray, age 40, married, occ: Farmer, born in Ten., parents born in KY
Elizabeth G. Bray, age 32, wife, married, occ: housekeeper, born in MO, parents born in KY
John R.(or B.) Bray, son, age 8, born in CA, attended school,
Talbert(?) L. Bray, son, age 7, born in CA, attended school
Edward Bray, Jr., son age 5, born in CA
Lodusky(?) Bray, daughter, age 4, born in CA
Jennie Bray, daughter, age 4?/12, born in Feb, born in CA
William Collis(?), age 28, single, occ: laborer, unemployed for 3 months, born in Mich, parents born in IL
Nathan Caldwell, age 31, married, occ: laborer, unemployed for 2 months, born in IL, father born in VA, mother born in KY
Edward Jr's age of 5 would indicate a birth year of 1875, but we had 1878 from the family data, and that matches the 1920 census age
I might also have expected a 5 year old to have been attending school in 1880, in most areas I have researched so far in the East, children as young as 5 were already attending school, if he had been only 2 he would have fallen between the two daughters, but it's hard to see how an enumerator could have mistaken a 2 year old for a 5 year old.
I cannot be positive that this is the correct Bray family because I did not have the names of the parents or any siblings before this, but I did have Yolo County as Edward's birthplace from family data. Buckeye Precinct is in the vicinity of Woodland CA
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LDS transcription for the above gives the father's middle initial as G. it is possible but it doesn't look the same as the clear G. for Elizabeth, it looks more like an L to me.
they list John's as P., but it definitely looks like an R. or possibly a B. to me,
they list Talbert's as T. but it is nothing like the T at the start of Talbert,
they list Jennie's age as 3/12 , that is possible depending on when in Feb. she had been born. the actual number is not clear
They read Collis as Cotter which is possible,
and they do not include the top 3 people in the household, but do include the 8 Chinese people.

References to people named Edward Bray in the "Woodland Daily Democrat" newpaper
in 1890 Edward should have been either 15 according to the 1880 census age, or 12 according to the birth year we had
Jan 18, 1890 - an Edward Bray was promoted from the third grade (this could not be our Edward, a third grade student would be about 8 or 9 years old)
October 21 1891 - 8th grade school honor roll (this perhaps would be the grade we would expect Edward to be in in 1891)
Feb 13, 1893 - an article about school exhibits to be sent to the World's Fair - Edward Bray's work was singled out as of specially high quality although it does not say what the work was, or what grade Edward was in.
May 26 1893, Edward Bray passed the graduation exam from the public schools, (there was also a Lola Bray in the list)
(This apparently was the grade school graduation but this would seem either late for the same Edward Bray mentioned above in 1891 to be graduating ??)
May 25, 1895, Edward Bray is listed as being a charter member of the newly formed bicycle club.
Nov 13, 1895, Edward Bray is mentioned as being the business manager of "The Omega", the High School journal. (We might expect Edward to be 17 in 1895 so we would expect him to be in High School)
Jan 24, 1896, Edward Bray is listed as having been elected treasurer of the High School "Alpha Society"
Dec 14, 1896, in an article about the High School football team's loss 4-0 to the Sacramento team at Sacramento in a very muddy game, (the weather was described as "beastly" and the field resembled a "hogwallow" according to the Sacramento paper. The article reports that "On Woodland's kick-off Bray kicked for 35 yards." At a post-game banquet hosted by the young ladies of Sacramento High School, various humerous toasts and remarks were offered, among them "THat Goose Egg", by the future judge of Yolo County, Edward Bray, and "How I Made That Tackle", by Bray of Woodland.
Sept 16, 1897, in a social column article on the resort area of Bartlett Springs, an Edward Bray of San Francisco is listed as a recent arrival. (this is clearly not the same Edward Bray, I believe that this man was probably Edward M. Bray, a grain commission merchant of Bray's Sons & Co. listed in the 1889 and 1890 SF city directory, no relation.)
June 11, 1898, In an article on the High School graduation ceremonies, Edward Bray is listed as graduating, having completed the scientific course. (it is mentioned in the article that the valedictorian's address states that the High School course was 3 years long, but there were 4 years since Edward Bray mentioned above graduated from grammar school ?? - perhaps the scientific course was longer ?,
the valedictorian had completed the Literary (Latin) course, not the scientific course.)
August 8, 1898, an article about the formation of a new Woodland company of the California National Guard, lists Edward Bray as a charter member of the company.
the following 3 references are reprint articles that refer back to the articles above
May 22, 1920, in a column titled "Happenings 25 years ago today" Edward Bray is listed among the charter members of a new bike club. This refers to the article listed above on the formation of that club.
Jan 26, 1921, in a column titled "25 Years ago Today" Edward Bray is a participant in a public program presented by the "Alpha Society"
(see above) - That would have taken place on Jan 21, 1896
June 7, 1923, In a column titled "25 Years Ago in Yolo County from the files of the "Democrat"", the high school graduation of 1898 is mentioned, again listing Edward Bray.

1920 US Census, Seattle, Precinct 173, King County, Washington, ED #238, page 7-A (stamped 47), line 45,
 dwelling #58, visit #126, ancestry.com image # 13 of 19, enumerated Jan 12, 1920.
address: 823 Madison Street (apparently a large appartment house or residential hotel. 50 people lived there, all listed as boarders)
Edward Bray, boarder, age 42, married, born in California, father born in Kentucky, mother born in Missouri,
occ: Cashier - Steel Products Co
Lillian F. Bray, boarder, age 36, married, born in Wisconsin, parents born in Sweden, occ: none
I cannot be certain that this is the correct Edward Bray, but 42 is the correct age if he had been born in 1878 as the family shows, and he is listed as born in CA also as the family shows, but his father is listed as born in Kentucky, which corresponds to Ed's birthplase as shown in the 1930 census, and his occupation has something to do with the Steel industry as does his occupation in 1930.
Lilian F. was his first wife.

 1930 US Census, Seattle, King County, Washington, ED #412, ancestry.com image # 31 of 39, dwelling #147, family #147, sheet 16-A (stamped 261), enumerated April 9, 1930.
  address: 3962 Beach Drive
Edward Bray, head, age 50, owned his house - value $5500, owned a radio set, age at first marriage 30, born in KY, parents born in KY, occ: Dept. Manager - US Steel, not a veteran
Mathilde, wife, age 38, age at first marriage 34, born in PA, parents born in Ireland, occ: none
Edward Jr., son, age 2-7/12, born in WA
 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---
Note that 1930 census shows his birthplace as Kentucky, but family sources show it as California also family supplied birth year was 1878, but census shows age 50 but 1920 census shows age as 42 which does correspond to 1878.
 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Washington State Death records show that an Edward Bray died in Seattle, WA on Feb 17, 1949 aged 73, certificate # 2578
this corresponds somewhat to the the birth year the family supplied of 1878 and the death year they supplied of 1948,
but if accurate would indicate a possible birth year of around 1876. It may not be the correct man.
