Philo, head, age 46, married for 23 years, born in NY, parents born in NY, occ: propietor - poultry farm, owned his house - free of mortgage Cora L., wife, age 42, married for 23 years, had 2 children, 2 living, born in NY, parents born in NY, occ: none (on next page) Ernest L., son, age 23, born in NY, occ: publisher - poultry books Ruth M., daughter, age 19, born in NY, occ: none, attended school Note: Ernest's middle initial could be an "R" but looks more like "L" -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- He supposedly married Frances McConeghy in Florida in June 1920 apparently his first wife Cora had died sometime between 1910 and 1920 or they were divorced, I haven't found out yet. Reportedly E.W. and Frances lived in or near Jacksonville, Florida for some years after their marriage. I found Frances in 1920 in April in Jacksonville before they were married, but I have been unable to locate him in 1920 or the couple after their marriage in 1930 either. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- He is buried in Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport, Potter County, PA. The dates on the cemetery transcription on the Potter County Historical Society site say b. 1873 d. April 30 1937. The gravestone reads "Edgar W. Philo , 1873 - 1937" That is incorrect. He was actually born in 1863. The 1863 date agrees with his age in the 1910 census. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- He was the creator of the Philo System of Poultry Farming I believe he usually was called "E.W." On the internet I found a reference to The Cycle Hatcher Co in Elmira NY in 1912 and "A Little Poultry and a Living" by E.W. Philo an old copy apparently offered for sale for $12 by Ken Schneringer 271 Sabrina Ct Woodstock, GA 30188 770-926-9383 e-mail schn3024@@@@bellsouth.net it was listed on a site called "old-paper.com" but the site did not appear to be funtioning correctly. Apparently the Cycle Hatcher Co item was a catalog of poultry raising supplies, it was unclear if the Philo title was included in the catalog or was a separate booklet
