Dan'l McConaghy, (head) age 57, occ: laborer R.R., born in Ireland, parents of foreign birth, not a citizen of US Matilda, (wife), age 49, occ: keeping house, born in Ireland, parents of foreign birth, John, (son), age 18, occ: laborer R.R., born in Delaware, parents of foreign birth, Dan'l, (son), age 16, occ: laborer R.R. born in Ireland, parents of foreign birth, Mary J., (daughter), age 9, at home, born in Pennsylvania, parents of foreign birth, attended school, James, (son), age 7, at home, born in Pennsylvania, parents of foreign birth, attended school Fanny, (daughter) age 6, at home, born in Pennsylvania, parents of foreign birth --- next page Matilda, (daughter), age 4, at home, born in Pennsylvania, parents of foreign birth Robert, (son), age 10/12, at home, born in August in New York, parents of foreign birth (also living with them were 3 other non-relations, probably boarders, 3 different surnames but names are difficult to read, 1 RR Laborer age 60, 1 RR laborer age 45, 1 female age 31 keeping house, all were born in Ireland, the oldest man and the woman could not read or write.) On the first page the McConeghy surname is difficult to read, it looks like McConagr/v or McConager or McConafer, on the second page it is looks more like McConethy. It is misindexed as Mc conager(Unknown) or Mc conaghr (Unknown) in ancestry.com's index on genealogy.com it is indexed as McConafer. wife Matilda's age appears to be listed as 49 but she should have been 47 so it is possibly just sloppy writing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- 1880 US Census Larrabee Village, Eldred Township, McKean County, Pennsylvania, ED #87, Dwelling #558, family # 580, page #58, sheet 274-B, enumerated July 16, 1880, ancestry.com image # 58 of 67. Matilda McConeghey (sic), head, widow, age 58, occ: keeping house, born in Ireland, parents born in Ireland John K. , son, age 27, single, occ: RR Brakeman, born in Delaware, parents born in Ireland Daniel R.(sic), son, age 25, single, occ: RR Express Manager, born in Ireland, parents born in Ireland Mary, daughter, age 19, single, occ: housekeeper, born in Delaware, parents born in Ireland James, son, age 18, single, occ: laborer, born in Delaware, parents born in Ireland Fannie, daughter, age 16, single, at home, attended school within the year, born in PA, parents born in Ireland Matilda, daughter, age 13, single, at school, born in PA, parents born in Ireland (note: age discrepancy on widow Matilda's age again. If she had been 36 in July 1860 (census) she should have been 56 in July 1880 (census) the birthdate we have for her would have made her 37 in 1860 and 57 in 1880 not 58.) Census ages are sometimes confusing - the 1880 census instructions say to enter the age at last birthday prior to June 1 1880. The census year officially ended May 31, so they wanted the age of people within the census year, but in this case they were enumerating 90 days later than that so who knows what they were actually recording) Other than the mother, the ages are all about as expected plus or minus one year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- 1900 US Census, Coudersport Borough, Eulalia Township, Potter County, Pennsylvania, ED #105, sheet 10B, dwelling #216, family # 222 enumerated June 7, 1900, genealogy.com image # 53 of 91. address : Mill Street. There is no stone, and the records do not give any dates or a name. This fact was also mentioned by Frances McConeghy Philo. The 1900 census indicated only 4 children all living, so if there was a stillbirth it probably occurred after 1900. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
