old family tree info states that he was from Shinglehouse PA. and that they had no children.
In 1904, Phillip Drake, who apparently was then only about 19 or 20, married Mary McConeghy who was then aged 42 !!!??,
they were divorced 9 years later in 1913 when she was about 51 and he was 28 or 29. She died the following year.
Phillip moved to Port Arthur, TX in December, 1912 to work for Texaco. He died in September, 1931 in Austin, TX at the age of 45 and was buried in the Sharon Center Cemetery in Potter Co. He was "superintendent of Texas Refinery in Tulsa, OK" at the time of his death. He was remarried, but no children were mentioned in the newspaper article. (info from Mike Cady)
(The on-line cemetery records for the Sharon Center cemetery, give his date of death as Sept 13, 1937. This was probably a transciption error for 1931) The records also state that he was the son of Simon Dana & Helen Burdic Drake and that he was wed 2 times.
There are large numbers of Burdic's and Drakes buried in that cemetery.
Lawrence Drake reports :
"The family recollection of my great uncle Phil Drake is that he was one of
the people that founded Phillips Petroleum at the turn of the century when
the oil industry migrated from Penna to Texas. Apparently he and my great
grandfather Edwin Drake were in the oil drilling buisiness in Pennsylvania
in Oil City. Edwin subsequently went into banking and retired as president
of the local bank in the 20s. Minnie Smith, an artist, was the first wife of
Edwin and the mother of my Grandfather and namesake, Lawrence Linden Drake."
