a. Note:   . She earned her real estate license at the age of 65 and became a realtor with Shadowen's Real Estate Agency. Esther later formed Esther Thomas Real Estate Company and later partnered with James Barrett to form Barrett and Thomas Realtor Association and she retired in 1990. She was united in marriage to Donald Lee Thomas, Jr. and they remained a loving couple until his demise. Esther was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where her husband was the pastor. She served in the Sunday school, senior choir, Baptist training union and the missionary society. She later united with Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church and at the time of her demise, Esther was a member of the Victory Temple Worship Center. She loved the Sunday school and the worship service.
Note:   She attended Clinton Avanue Elementary School and graduated from I. M. Terrell, the only high school for colored in 1929. Esther has worked as a silk finisher, home health care aide and cosmetologist
