  He was born probably about 1787. In Sept., 1808 he came with his tutor and cousin, George Toups, to Lafourche to buy land. In the deed record, this land is described as 2 acres wide and forty; acres deep, 46 ½ miles from the Mississippi River, bounded below by land claimed by Charles Toups. For this land $400 was to be paid by George Toups, hence it seems likely that Drosin was now of age and his guardian was financing this land purchase from the father's estate. He also seems to have married about this time. His wife's name was Judith Maillard or as it was spelled in some of the records in the Thibodaux Courthouse, Mayer. The name Drosin is also spelled many ways in the records - Drozan, Derozin, D'orzan, Deruzin or even Orazine. Drozin Toups died before 1840 and his wife seems to have died about 1847.
