Note: WINSLOW, Arizona 2006—John Wesley Allen died here Friday following a short illness. Mr. Allen was born in El Paso, Texas on November 6, 1940 with his twin brother Jack Langdon Allen to Rufus Jackson Allen and Elizabeth "Deed" Jane Dolan. The family soon moved to Sierra Blanca Texas, and following graduation from Sierra Blanca High School, he attended Sul Ross University on a rodeo scholarship. Upon enlistment in the United States Army in 1964, he served in the Military Police Corps at Fort Hood Texas. He was an excellent soldier, attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Class in just three years. After his elistment was completed in 1967, he moved to El Paso working in ranching operations and competing in the area professional rodeo circuit, including broncho and bull riding. He married Patricia Ann Metzger in 1968 and the couple moved to Socorro Rd, Ysleta, Texas where he managed the family's Lower Rio Grand Valley cotton farm. He subsequently was employed in heavy equipment operations in Ruidoso, New Mexico, Bakersfiled, California, and Tehachapi, California. Mr. Allen is survived by his former wife, Patti Ann Coffman of Bakersfield; two sons, Hays Russell Allen of Houston, Texas and John Cody Allen of Bakersfield; three brothers, Jack Langdon Allen of Sierra Blanca, Texas, William Moore Eliott of Dallas Texas, and Vern B.
