Notes
a. Note:   Judge Charles Davidson Cooke was the first Judge in Avenwell Bluffs, and built Cooke Mansion as a wedding gift to his wife, Laura Grace. He was a staff officer in the War, and was away when one of their own soldiers invaded their home to use for strategic point of advantage as it overlooked the ocean. Laura was murdered by one of the soldiers, who was in turn, killed by Charles. Being the good and honest man that he was, he turned himself in, where he was tried, and taken to the town square and hanged.
