Note: 890's when she went to the Vanderbilt area, Otsego county, probably with her sister , Josie Barret and her husband Albert House. There she met and married John Bertram. They were married on 3 August 1895 in Vanderbilt. Josephine and Albert House were witnesses. About 1900, her husband John, was killed in a railroad accident. These were very common in Vanderbilt at the time. Her children, Martin and Amos Bertram, were sent back to live with their grandparents in Sanilac county. Catherine worked as a domestic during this period ( listed in 1900 census as a servant in Detroit home on Dix ave, near McKinstry ) , but shortly married Henry Rupp, and Catherine and her sons were living with him at the time of the 1910 census in Flint, Mi. Catherine's mother, Anna Phelan, died in 1906, and in the obituaries, Catherine was listed as Cassi e Rupp of Lansing. More to find out there. Catherine lost Henry , too, in the 1920 census she was living with her son Martin, his wife Frida Schneider, and their daughter, Helen, in the city of Detroit. Catherine Laura Barbour passed away on Wednesday, 8 March 1950, in Detroit. She was buried on the 11th of March 1950 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery , Detroit, Michigan, Section 3 N.E. Lot 274, grave #1. There is no grave marker. Also buried there is her son, Amos John Bertram.
