  "Willie Calhoun" was Papa's "boy". They were the same age and went to school together. They were responsible for each other. Willie was small for his age and the kids "in town" teased him. Papa said he had to pound on the boys in town, almost every day, for teasing Willie.

  The crew of the USS Wilmington called the ship the "Rollington" because it had a very short keel and on the open sea it rolled tremendously. All the crew was seasick all the time. The Willmington was the escort for the USS Oregon.
