On his Social Security Application it says he was working for John Deere Tractor Company, in Waterloo, Iowa. He also put his middle name as "Roy", but in the section where it asks for his full name given at birth, he wrote Vernon Royal Wilson. His mailing address, at the time was Hazleton, Iowa % E.C. Saathoff. He became a machinist but had to give up the occupation because of an allergy to petroleum products. He also wrote his mother's name as "Gertrude Hogge" on the social security application. He hated his stepmother, Hazel, so badly that whenever he drank too much, which was quite often, he "killed" her. In my opinion, most everything he told my mother was not true, except for saying that he was related to "everyone" in three Iowa counties.

Donald Wilson, 80, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Hopkinton United Methodist Church, with burial in Hopkinton Cemetery. A car driven by Vernon Wilson was badly damaged when it struck a culvert on highway 38, north of Hopkinton, Tuesday evening. No one was injured.

The only existing picture (from Aunt Mame's collection) is of a "Lizzie Wilson' who must be Elizabeth Sarah who never married. It's confusing because it also says Mrs. W. B. Hill which would be Margaret A the eldest dau. It a young woman with very curly hair, with a rather condescending look.
