It was a 3 mile walk to school and there was not always shoes or clothes to wear. Also, not enough food to eat. Jimbo was the youngest and too tired after walking all that way to keep up with school, he was held back one year. The 4 older kids were able to keep up and were passed ahead to the next grade every year.
