Note: CENSUS DATA: The 1860 census, Tallapoosa Co., AL, Pinckneyville, p. 166, taken 29 August 1860, shows Elizabeth Dillard, female, age 24, born SC living in the home of her aunt, Margaret Finney Craig, wife of James L. Craig. Also living in the home was William Jabath?, male, age 4, born AL.

RESEARCHER NOTES: Some researchers indicate that William Jabath? shown in the 1860 census is the youngest son of Jabez M. and Martha Finney Dillard born abt. 1856. (See notes under William Jabez Dillard). Other researchers indicate that the William Jabath (Jabez) is Elizabeth Dillard and Richmond Stubbs' child.

MY ASSUMPTION: Currently, I am of the opinion that the William Jabath shown in the 1860 census was William Jabez Dillard, the youngest child of Jabez M. and Martha Finney Dillard. Further, after review of Martha Finney Dillard tombstone inscription that shows her death date as 10-3-1855, it seems probable that her death on 3 October 1855 was related to the birth of William Jabez Dillard.
