Note: Sponsored at baptism by Ann Nelson and Mrs. Luther Gerlach. Paul Weber Jr., ex-shop owner, official Paul M. Weber Jr., former Sinking Spring mayor and business entrepreneur, died of natural causes March 19 at 8:35 p.m. in his Sinking Spring residence. Weber, 72, was the husband of Ruth A. (Schaumburg) Weber. Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Paul M. Sr. and S. Catherine (Nelson) Weber. Weber was the owner and operator of Weber's Deerskin, Wyomissing and Sinking Spring, for 38 years, retiring in 1995. He previously worked as a radio station engineer for WEEU during the late 1950s. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring, where he served on the council, and was an adult Sunday school teacher. Weber was a 1950 graduate of Reading High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Weber was a former Sinking Spring mayor and served on the borough council during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He served on the borough planning commission for many years. Weber is also survived by a son, Gary L., Williamsport, Lycoming County; and two daughters, Susan E. (Weber) Nagle, West Lawn, and Carol L. (Weber) Fisher, Wyomissing. There are also five grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Church. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton. Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville, is in charge of arrangements. (Reading Eagle, March 21, 2005)
