a. Note:   John A. Davis was born in Lancaster Co PA, 12 Feb 1803, the son of Daniel Davis and Sarah Albright. Before his marriage he lived with his uncle, Abraham Baer. Abraham Baer (or Bear) was married to a sister of Sarah Albright Davis. On 5 Nov 18-- John and Louisianna Salome Gruber of Lebanon Co PA were married and to them were born 10 children, four sons and six daughters. They lived in Lebanon Co Pa until 1850, when with all the children, they left for Iowa going by way of the Pennsylvania Canal, the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. At Pittsburgh, Emanuel and Levi Davis met the family and stayed over night with them. After two weeks the family finally arrived in Burlington IA 1 May 1850. John Died 15 Sep 1881 and Louisianna 8 Apr 1900. Both are buried in Jagger Cemetery, near Danville IA. Both belonged to the Brethren Church.
  John A. Davis was a farmer and Miller by trade.
