In 1901 Ernest was living with his mother , siblings and her partner ( James Wood ) in schedule no 64 , near Crown Road Shoreham near Sevenoaks Kent UK and was an Ag. Lab. All the people in the household have the surname of Wood. Number 61 was the Blacksmiths and no 59 was the Two Brewers Public House ( still there )

Ernest was actually christened as Ernest George Humphrey in the Trottiscliffe Parish Records on 4 Nov 1883 and did know his real father was James William Humphrey. All the records of him after 1901 show his surname as Wood and his father as James Wood .
I cannot find any trace of either Wood or Humphrey families in the 1891 Census.
