Note: N1212 emigrated to the USA according to a family tree on Ancestry.com http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/6862943/person/1975036484 ____________________ Subject: RE: Ludwig Eberle Freda, I'm not 100% sure that Johann de Matha Eberle is Ludwig's father, but I'm pretty sure. I haven't gotten into it very deep, I've been focusing on my Mother's side, as there are some serious skeletons in the closet there! :) Anyway, I do have definate record that Ludwig is my Great, Great Grandfather, and that at the age of 15, he walked from Offingen, Germany to Hamburg to get on a ship to America. That is about a 20 day walk! I'm sure on the way he got picked up by a carrage every so often, but that's still pretty impressive for a 15 year old! But, anyway, back to your question, from everything I've reasearched so far, yes, Johann was Ludwig's father. I hope it turns out to be 100% correct, because that would make us strangely related! :) This is on my paternal grandmother's side. Ludwig was her grandfather. If you have any other questions, I will do my best to answer them. I have not renewed my Ancestry.com account in a few, but plan on it soon, and I will be glad to do some research. Thank you! Janice Wells smilnjan@@q.com ____________ Census records for the Ludwig Eberle mentioned in the above post consistently indicate he was born in 1864, which makes me feel that he is a different Ludwig Eberle and not our man. Emails exchanged with Janic Wells further reinforced my opinion that this is not our Ludwig. The above mentioned Ludwig Eberle (b. 1864/65) immigrated to the USA in the 1880’s. The recorded year of immigration varies with the census records. He lived in Chatham, Columbia County, NY, and died in 1940. There were other Eberles in Columbia County, NY, which may have been relatives of this Ludwig.
