You can see that that there were a few Canadians from Ontario who took an active part in the modernization of Japan. Milton was living at 52 McCulloh St, and was from Pine Orchard, Ontario, Canada. He was then a Fellow in Mathematics at Johns Hopkins living at 1113 Linden Ave. _______________ “A foreign professor was, however, soon engaged to take charge of Mathematics and Physics/ Milton Haight, B.A., was a graduate of the Toronto University, and had afterward pursued his mathematical studies in the Johns Hopkins under Rowland and Newcomb.
