Notes
a. Note:   N125 Myrtice Boardman became a school teacher, moved to Montana and married my grandfather, Asa Austin Powell b Sept 23, 1886 in Allendale, ND d Aug 22, 1952. They had 9 children together. Myrtice passed away Jan 11, 1972, in Missoula, MT and is buried in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery, Kalispell, MT. (Christa Powell)
1900 Census - Anna C (or L ) Boardman (32) b.Jul 1867 in Wisconsin, and Myrtice (9), b. Sep 1890 in Wyoming, are boarders in a hotel run by John Babcock, in Maiden Rock, Pierce, Wisconsin. Anna is a milliner, Myrtice at school.
1910 Census - M Boardman (19) born in WY is living in the LaBarre School District, Chouteau County, MT. Both parents are reported to have been born in WI. Myrtice is a school teacher.
Help! I’m having a difficult time sorting out my Rose ancestry.
My grandmother was MYRTICE T. BOARDMAN, b. Sep 1890, on a train in Cheyenne, Wyoming; d. Jan 1972, Kalispell, MT.
Her parents were CHRISTIANA ROSE and EDGAR BOARDMAN [m 09 Nov 1886 in La Crosse, Wisconsin] Edgar was the son of ALONZO BOARDMAN and NANCY BURGESS. He was born 1860 in Wisconsin. Edgar and Christiana (called “Anna” by her family) parted ways before 1900. She is listed as a widow in the 1900 census in Maiden Rock, Pierce Co., Wisconsin, but the family story is that she left him when it was discovered that Edgar had “another family” and, indeed he shows up in the Iowa census that same year.
Christiana (“Anna”) Rose was the daughter of JOHN [b 1833 New York] and Rebecca Rose [b abt 1845 Ohio] of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I have found the family in the 1870 census on Eau Claire. Rebecca is “JW” or “IW”, but in 1880, she is listed as Rebecca. The children listed in 1870 are:
 Nellie, 10yr
 Willard, 8 yr
Anna 3 yr [I believe this is my g-grandmother, Christiana]
 Adelle.1 yr
John owned a logging camp in the area.
Now…this is where I begin to speculate. In the 1860 census I have found John Rose, a butcher, married to LOVENA. She was born 1837 in New York, and died 20 Mar 1865 in Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I believe this is my John Rose’s first wife, and that they had the following children:
ELLEN L ROSE, b. 1859, Wisconsin. [In the later census, she was called “Nellie”]
WILLARD ROSE, b. Abt. 1862, Wisconsin.
I have also found an Adelle Rose married to William McCray in the 1900 census. Rebecca W. Rose resides with them in
St. Paul, Minnesota, not all that far from Wisconsin. However, this may not be the same Adele
and Rebecca Rose, because Rebecca’s nativity is listed as Pennsylvania, not Ohio
I can’t find any clues as to which of the many Rose family’s my John Rose belongs to. The family story is that our Rose family used to be “Montrose” but that when one of my ancestors began making shoes…or gloves, they were disowned and were forced to shorten the name to Rose. I
 have never substantiated this.
I would appreciate any information, connections or clues regarding this line.
  Thank you,
 Christa Powell
