The role of Alexis Petrovitch was taken acceptably by Seavy Bailey; Ellis Harris, as Ivan, a master shoemaker; Miss Alice Smith, as his daughter, Micheline, carried off the honors of the evening. 1907 - June 15 - Minneapolis Tribune - “The marriage of Miss Flora Edwards and Seavey Morre Bailey will take place this afternoon at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Edwards. The service will be followed by a reception at 4:30.”
1907 - June 16 - Minneapolis Tribune - "The wedding of Miss Flora Edwards, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Edwards, and Seavey Moore Bailey took place yesterday afternoon at the bride's home, 2221 Nicollet avenue, and a handsomely appointed event it was. The ceremony was solemnized at 4 o'clock and from 4:30 to 8 a reception was held to which a large number of invitations had been issued.
In the library, where the ceremony was performed, green and white, the bridal colors were in evidence. Great clusters of white lilacs found a setting amid green foliage, while a pretty inglenook in one corner was banked with palms and ferns to form an improvised altar.
The living room was fragrant with a wealth of purple lilacs and in one corner frappe was served in a bower of ferns, the punch bowl resting in a large basket tied with tulle and adorned with clusters of the purple blossoms. The dining room was all in pink. The sideboard was banked with ferns, which brought into relief masses of pink roses. On the table pink peonies filled a basket, which was tied with delicate pink tulle.
Miss Avery Trask played the Lohengrin wedding march as a signal for the entrance of the bridal party, and preceding their entrance white satin ribbons were stretched from the stairway to the altar in the library by Messrs. Arthur Edwards, Arthur Rand, Roy Pierson, Campbell M Bailey, Alfred E. Dickey and Sears E. Brace.
Miss Marjorie Edwards, gowned in pink silk modishly arranged with lace and carrying an arm bouquet of white lilacs and pink roses, preceded her sister as maid of honor. The bride was met at the altar by the bridegroom and his best man, Paul Bailey, where the service was ready by Dr. Marion D. Shutter.
The bridal costume was of ivory brocaded satin trimmed with duchesse lace and made en princesse with a sweeping train. It was completed by a tulle veil bordered with lines of silver and held i place by a wreath of orange blossoms. Al large bouquet of whit sweet peas mingled with maidenhair fersn which the brde carried accorded well with it. During the reading of the beautiful marriage service Miss Trask played softly on the piano, and after the blessing was pronounced the full notes of the Mendelsohn recessional were sounded.
At the reception which followed Mr. and Mrs. Edwards received with the bridal party and Mrs. Anna M. Bailey. A group of women assisted through the rooms. They were Mmes. Frederick Paine, Marion D Shutter, F. S. Ball and A. E. Dickey.
A group of Kappa Gamma girls presided at the frappe table and served in the dining room including the Misses Agnes Belden, Lucy Hart, Katherine Hargis, Kathleen Gundkel, Alice Dougan, Mabelle Thompson, Katherine Fairchild, Cornelia Kennedy, Jessie Cray, CLeo Wheeler, and Mmes. John F. Calhoun, Reginald Healy and Thomas Brown.
Mr. and Mrs. Bailey left for a wedding trip and will be at home after Aug 1 at 2321 Blaisdell avenue.
1908 - Nov 6 - Minneapolis Tribune - “Mrs. David Starr Jordan of Palo Alto, Ca. arrived yesterday to be the guest of her niece, Mrs. Seavey M. Bailey at her home, 82 Willow street. There will be a great deal of entertaining in compliment to Mrs. Jordan during her week’s visit to the city. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs Arthur Edwards will entertain at dinner in honor of Mrs. Jordan at their home, 2100 Second avenue south.”

"Before the Civil War, the general area that would become Takoma Park was increasingly developed as small farms and country estates. One of the most notable of these was the Silver Spring farm of Francis Preston Blair, a member of the “Kitchen Cabinet” of President Andrew Jackson. He came to Washington from Kentucky in 1830 as editor of the Globe, a pro-Jackson newspaper. Blair made his home at 1651 Pennsylvania Avenue across from the White House, and in 1835 acquired a large country property located near the Silver Spring. With later additions, this was known as Falkland Manor. It included part of the Girles Portion and other originally Carroll lands, extending into what is today Takoma Park, MD, and Takoma, DC. "

1912 - Seavey Moor Bailey Jr drowned - see multimedia newspaper clipping.
Lakewood Cemetery has an internment for Seavey Moor Bailey, age 1, who died 20 Aug 1912 and was buried 22 Aug 1912 in the Baily plot, section 7 lot 9 grave 10. Seavey Moor Baily, his mother and father, and his second wife, Dora, as well as others are buried in this monument lot. There is no information as to the parents of this child. If he was the child of Flora and Seavey it might explain in part why the marriage failed. Flora would have been about 7 months pregnant in Aug 1912, with Hilton Moor Bailey.
