Notes
a. Note:   N1928 Caroline H. Rohrbach(1928 - 2018)
Caroline H. Rohrbach, 90, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Duncaster Retirement Community. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1928. She attended Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, before marrying John G. Rohrbach in 1949. They were married for 65 years and raised four children together. John passed away in 2015. Caroline recognized her deep love for horticulture while living in Storrs, CT during the 1960's and 1970's. She cultivated orchids as her specialty. She returned to college to complete her B.S. degree (in horticulture) at the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1973. She launched a landscape design business, Green Designs, which flourished into the 1990's. As a member and later national officer of the The Garden Club of America, Caroline oversaw scholarships, garden awards and GCA programs over decades, and was an award winner herself in plant propagation. Her national travel with GCA was one of the great joys of her life. Caroline was one of the longest serving members of Connecticut Valley Garden Club, and she supported a variety of Knox Park Foundation's Hartford area greening programs. Caroline and John returned to the Hartford area in the late 1970's. In 2004, they moved to Duncaster Retirement Community, where Caroline served enthusiastically on a variety of resident committees and boards, especially the Grounds Committee. Caroline leaves her brother, Eugene Ross Hanson, of Savannah, and her three children, David, John and Kate (her son Peter pre-deceased her), her beloved grandchildren James, Andrew, Carlos, Monica, Hope and Ethan, and her adored great-grandson, Peter. A service will be held on Monday, May 7 at 11:00 am, at Duncaster Retirement Community, followed by a reception.
